Library and Archives of the Northern Territory (LANT) and its Northern Territory Library were moving from Parliament House to the new Education and Community Precinct, Charles Darwin University’s new campus.
This relocation provided the opportunity to create an exhibition to build new audiences among Aboriginal people, library users, tertiary students, and local and international visitors. The exhibition focuses on stories of people and places, including truth-telling and amplifying Indigenous voices.
Art of Multimedia's frequent collaborator, Convergence Design, was commissioned to work with the curatorial team to create a reflective exhibition that would be an effective educational resource that facilitates intergenerational learning, engagement, and discussion. They designed a technological approach and branded built form presented in 6 distinct zones to reflect the themes of First People, First Encounters, Tension & Harmony, Meeting Country, Entangled and Brutal Truths.
Art of Multimedia's role in the collaboration included programming seven multimedia exhibits and editing 18 videos, with captions to enhance accessibility.
Multimedia experiences are layered within physical experiences and paced in a way that maintains a high level of engagement throughout the exhibition journey without overwhelming the visitor.
