Art of Multimedia is pleased to announce that The Rocks Discovery Museum upgrade project, developed for Place Management NSW was recognised by judges of three separate excellence award programs.
In May, the National Trust Heritage Awards 2022 were held at Doltone House Pyrmont, where the project was Highly Commended in the Education and Interpretation category.
In June, the Australian Museum & Galleries Australia (AMAGA) annual conference was held in Perth, where the Museums Australasia Multimedia and Publication Design Awards (MAPDAs) as well as the Museums & Galleries National Awards (MAGNAs) were held.
The new museum website was Highly Commended Level A, Institutional Website category in the MAPDA Awards 2022 and the multimedia exhibition was Highly Commended Level 3, Permanent Exhibition Gallery & Fitout MAGDA Awards 2022.
The project was undertaken during the COVID shutdown period, which provided an opportunity to design a modern visitor experience for the multimedia which was being upgraded, to give the museum curators time to develop additional content, particularly focusing on strengthening Indigenous perspectives throughout all exhibits, to equip them with analytics to inform future content additions and of course, to add new exhibits, such as a touch table and others, all within the existing exhibition fitout.
The website was designed after an in-depth discovery process undertaken with the museum team, to empower them with the latest user-friendly CMS and a contemporary visitor experience.
