Murrook Highly Commended at M&GNSW IMAGinE Awards 2024

Museums & Galleries NSW celebrated excellence amongst NSW cultural institutions with their annual IMAGinE awards 2024 held at Paddington Town Hall on 22nd November. It was a tremendous honour to conclude the year with Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council's Murrook Culture Centre again being recognised in the Exhibition Projects - Museums and Heritage, Small Organisation category.

With over 130 submissions spanning several categories, it’s clear that cultural and artistic expression is thriving across New South Wales. The diversity and creativity showcased in the inspiring projects submitted by museums, galleries, and keeping places of all sizes was truly remarkable, making the competition for top honours exceptionally strong. A special thank you to the judges, who faced the challenging task of selecting winners from such an impressive field.

The project was only possible thanks to the vision, courage and self-determination of the Worimi Elders and LALC Board, who chose to share their Culture this way and CEO Andrew Smith, whose passion brought everyone together and brought out the best in everyone.

Beata Kade, Managing Director of Art of Multimedia, and Nicole Chaffey, Director and Curator of the Murrook Museum Gallery, were thrilled to celebrate this achievement on their behalf, as captured by Jacquie Manning.

Thank you Museums & Galleries NSW for maintaining this important program and congratulations to all the winners and highly commended projects across every category—your efforts continue to enrich and preserve the vibrant cultural tapestry of our state.

Let’s design with meaning together.
