Australian Museums and Galleries Association Incorporated (AMaGA) has been the peak national association and advocacy body of the cultural sector for over 80 years.
AMaGA Represents the full spectrum of organisations in terms of size and location. Members include; museums, galleries, historic sites, botanic and zoological gardens, research centres, Indigenous cultural centres, and Keeping Places across Australia.
Professional development is a crucial function. Each year, the industry gathers at the National Conference to learn, connect and exchange insights.
This year's theme CREATING THE FUTURE: TRUST. DIVERSITY. IMAGINATION. speaks to the heart of what we all need to recover from the difficult circumstances communities worldwide have experienced and find a way to create a better tomorrow.
The 2021 conference will involve the physical and virtual gathering of professionals working across the cultural sector. AMaGA2021 expects to welcome over 300 industry delegates from across Australia and Asia-Pacific.
Featuring a range of invited speakers, workshops and sessions, the four-day program and is jam-packed across several venues - National Gallery of Australia, National Convention Centre Canberra, National Portrait Gallery, Museum of Australian Democracy and the National Library of Australia.
AMaGA also recognises and celebrates excellence through the annual MAGNA & MAPDA Awards. This year's winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.
