AOM picks up 2 awards for Murrook at Interpretation IA 2024 Awards for Excellence
Murrook Culture Centre was honoured with two awards at Interpretation Australia’s 2024 National Awards for Excellence held at the Annual Conference in Brisbane, winning in the Digital Interpretation Project and First Nations Interpretation Project categories!
We are grateful to the IA Awards Judges for their consideration and comments
“Whilst this project is a complex technical project, its implementation presents a refreshing simplicity of form, allowing users to freely circulate and enjoy the space around the interpretive elements.”
“Exceptional image quality and ability to interact with the landscape and story through multimedia provides a number of avenues for visitors to engage and enjoy the installation. Murrook exhibits a strength of curatorial vision and respectful development over time to create a beautifully crafted exhibit.”
These new honours bring the project’s award tally to six – but what truly makes this project so special goes far beyond the accolades. It was fun and exciting, but above all, a privilege to co-create this digital cultural experience with the Worimi LALC Board, many Elders and Community members, Andrew Smith, the CEO extraordinaire, and Nicole Chaffey, the multi-talented curator.
This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of Art of Multimedia's talented team, particularly Jason Stevenson and collaborators Rod Alderton, Sue McIntyre-Tamwoy, Jerry Retfort, Matt Hermans, David Mackenzie, and many others.
