First impressions matter in recruitment

Top talent is a hot commodity these days for large corporations and government departments alike. Both are actively implementing staff attraction programs, driven by research that indicates a high retirement rate across many industries over the next few years.

To combat a general skill shortage in the water industry, the objective at Sydney Water is to promote their entry-level opportunities. The major employer commissioned Art of Multimedia to produce a promotional DVD targetting prospects for their apprenticeship, traineeship and graduate programs.

AOM created a lively presentation comprising a short promo, which includes vox pops with current entry-level team members who describe in their own words the benefits of the programs and working at Sydney Water, as well as longer interviews with individual staff in diverse roles and from different ethnic backgrounds.

“This style of DVD is the ideal communication tool for employment expos and other promotional applications, where making a powerful first impression is an important part of an organisation’s overall effort to build a strong and lasting team,” says Beata Kade, AOM’s managing director.
