Talk to staff to impress customers
Standing out in a price-driven industry such as private security is far from easy, especially when you are trying to drive growth and create a culture of teamwork and solid capability.
“ACG work hard to encourage leadership and initiative throughout their organisation. They encourage strategic thinking, demand personal drive and integrity, and expect effective communication,” says AOM’s managing director, Beata Kade.
“ACG came to us during their re-branding with a new logo and an extensive brochure. What they still needed were new and better ways to articulate their values and direction internally as well as externally.”
ACG decided to take a new direction online in response to customer feedback. After a serious look at their website, they chose to build a new one that worked harder for customers and staff.
AOM set about redeveloping the ACG site and began including functionality that streamlined operations.
For example, ACG handles security for major events – from sporting events to festivals and product launches – which sees spikes in demand occur. AOM created an intranet for ACG that enabled full-time and casual staff to register interest in working at various times and places.
Having successfully rolled out the registration function – “which is working extremely well and becoming an invaluable tool for managing demand,” says Beata – ACG are working with AOM to find more ways to increase functionality.
“It is always interesting to see how, once one thing works well and is saving time and money, people really start to think about what they can do next.”
Not that it's all online. Like many fast-growth companies expanding into new regions, ACG needed a way to engage with staff and customers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. As a result the company decided to launch a newsletter, ACG Integrity, also published by AOM.
“The direction taken with ACG Integrity has been to really focus on the staff and the core values of the company,” says Beata.
“The feedback has been fantastic. A side benefit has been that customers are enthusiastic about it because it gives a real insight to the company’s character and motivation.”
