Showcasing intellectual property

The Australian Technology Park Showcase 2008 hosted World IP Day, which was a resounding success, according to IP Australia, a federal government department.

World IP Day creates an opportunity to explore and celebrate intellectual property’s role in innovation, with this year’s theme – encouraging creativity – focusing on stimulating and safeguarding the forces of creativity and innovation.

As part of the celebration, this year’s ATP Showcase 2008 seminar series included:

  • IP enforcement and commercial realities
  • Converting ideas to IP
  • IP management and licensing
  • Understanding the end game/valuing IP.

In addition to the seminars and displays by ATP tenants showing off their latest gadgets, gizmos and technology services, a networking lunch was attended by over 200 people.

State and federal government presence included IP Australia, NSW Department for State and Regional Development (DSRD), AusIndustry and Austrade, in a whole-of-government approach to assist SMEs in developing, protecting and capitalising on their IP.

“AOM were asked to assist at rather late notice, with barely two months lead time,” says Beata Kade, AOM’s managing director. “Nonetheless, we succeeded in developing a striking new identity for the event, as well as online invitations, a customised online registration platform, banners and program”.

AOM also managed the entire registration process, to ensure it was professionally organised and every stakeholder's needs were met.
