Luxury Afloat houseboats have operated on the Hawkesbury River since the 1950s. This family-owned and operated tourism business offers a fleet of unique houseboats and cottages from Brooklyn, a piece of paradise less than 1-hour drive from Sydney CBD.
Their old website, which Art of Multimedia maintained, was long past its lifespan, so despite suffering from the shutdown of tourism during multiple COVID-induced lockdowns, Luxury Afloat asked us to create a new website.
The new site needed to reflect the established brand identity, while bringing a fresh design for an improved brand positioning. It needed to deliver a mobile-optimised and visitor-focused experience and an easy-to-use, low-maintenance Content Management System (CMS).
Already understanding Luxury Afloat's content publishing needs and pain points of the old website, AOM conducted a brief discovery and UX design, then created a concept, wireframes and prototypes to help our client see and experience the website's functionality before commencing development.
We utilised CRAFT, a modern CMS that allows great flexibility in design and rapid development. As such, it enables us to develop bespoke websites in less time and requires much less ongoing technical maintenance than larger open-source CMS systems. This makes it a great option for clients looking for quality, bespoke websites on a modest budget.
